It’s not against Google rules to actually make money on your website. Moreover, it makes really good business sense if what you are trying to do is make a successful go of your blogging carreer. Problem is that most people just go at it like a bull in a china shop, trying to get good content up, but never sparing a thought to either whether or not that content can be found, or if it’s possible to make a reasonable income off of that content.

No one website, unless they have an army of staff, can ever hope to cover every single good keyword that’s out there. Now I know that it seems at first a pretty impossible task, but it isn’t. It’s really easy, all you have to do is have a bit of patience and be willing to work.
The first thing that you are going to have to do is to choose a Google adsense busting keyword that is at least 3 words long, gets around 3000 hits, and has the potential of earning at least $1. You can get all this information from the google keyword tool.
Get that into your article and make sure the article is around 400 words or a bit more.
The next thing you want to do is to improve that keyword’s chances. Here’s the first thing if you have a site already, or work on hubpages. Wherever possible, link to that keyword or a related keyword phrase that appears on that page from another post that is relevant on your site or hubpage account.
The second thing that you are going to do is link from another website somewhere, preferably with a page rank higher than the one you are promoting. It doesn’t have to be too high – perhaps a PR3 or 4 depending on where your own site already ranks. It would look odd to have a link from a PR7 site to a brand new page!

You can also go and chat with friendly bloggers and ask if they would be willing to post a link. On no account should you buy links, but it is completely white hat to offer to write an article in return for a link or two.
You are aiming for around 5 new links to your post every month, and in this way you will soon start ranking.
